Next Generation of Science Standards (NGSS) for California State: These standards have been adopted for the state of California and are projected to be in place during the 2016-2017 school year. States of Matter using the 3 dimensions
Play the video clip from Survivorman showing him making a contraption to collect fresh water to drink from beach trash. Hand students a basic representation of the contraption he made and have them label it. Fill in the missing pieces. Then talk about what the different states look like. |
Argument Driven Inquiry- Argument-Driven Inquiry is an innovative approach to laboratory instruction that is based on current research about how people learn science and current recommendations for making lab activities more meaningful for students. Argument Driven Inquiry gives students an opportunity to learn how to participate in the practices of science and use the core ideas and crosscutting concepts of science to make sense of natural phenomena. This instructional approach also gives students an opportunity to learn how to read, write, and speak in the context of science.
